Florida Outdoor Adventures in Florida’s Sports Coast

Things To Do

Outdoor Adventures

With our unbeatable outdoor adventures, you’ll find the perfect place to get out and play under the warm Florida sun along Florida’s Sports Coast. From extreme adrenaline-pumping activities like skydiving and cable wakeboarding to family-friendly outdoor excursions through nature preserves and soaring hot air balloon rides, there’s never a boring day on Florida’s Sports Coast.

On the Water

Explore Florida’s Sports Coast’s waterways on your own with a kayak or canoe rental from Salty Dog Kayak Rentals. From the urban Cotee River through New Port Richey to the wetland preserves along the coast to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, there’s plenty to see and explore along the water. If you’d rather follow along and see the best sights along the waterways, take a guided eco tour instead.

Thrill-seekers try tricks and stunts on their wakeboards.

What happens when you combine a bar, a boat and a bike? You get the best party on Florida’s Sports Coast! Head aboard Lucky Booty Cycleboats with up to 15 friends and pedal your way down the Cotee River. Bring along your favorite food and drinks and party on the waters while blasting out your favorite tunes.

Pick up speed and air before coming down with a splash at Lift Adventure Park. Offering kayaking, a huge floating obstacle course and a public beach, the main attraction here is The Lift—the cable system that pulls thrill-seekers along the water as they try tricks and stunts on their wakeboards.

On Land

Take a walk on the wild side with a family adventure at Giraffe Ranch. Take an intimate safari-style expedition led by experienced guides on safari tour vehicles where you can get up close and personal with giraffes and other exotic animals. Whether you’re taking a guided tour, camel expedition or Segway safari, Giraffe Ranch is an unbeatable destination for family fun.

Here’s a story no one back home will believe: While you’re on Florida’s Sports Coast, take your family to Snowcat Ridge, the first outdoor snow park to open in the state. This one-of-a-kind 60-foot-tall and 400-foot-long snow tubing hill comes complete with a magic carpet lift, indoor snow dome and a picturesque alpine village where you can shop, dine and relax with hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows around the campfire.

Sample fruits right from the branch with a family trip to Starkey Blueberry Farms. Offering a fun, and often competitive, experience each spring, you can pick as many berries as you’d like for only five dollars per pound.

In Nature

The nature along Florida’s Sports Coast is the area’s best feature, and we’ve made it a goal to preserve this natural beauty for all to enjoy.

At Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park, it’s easy to feel at peace in nature. Well-known for paddling, fishing, hiking, and birdwatching, this park is also home to natural salt springs that are more than 300 feet deep.

Located in Dade City, Withlacoochee River Park is home to multiple campgrounds—including an RV camping area—a lovely playground and a variety of multi-purpose trails. You and your family can enjoy hiking, biking and fishing along the Withlacoochee River.

We’ve made it a goal to preserve our natural beauty.

The beautiful James E. Grey Nature Preserve hugs the shores of the winding Pithlachascotee (aka Cotee) River and is home to 80 acres of swamps and wetlands. With a fantastic boardwalk and tons of nature trails to explore, this is a great destination to hike, bike or kayak and unwind.

The perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors, Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park is 8,000 acres of untouched land that’s perfect for hiking, biking and camping. The variety of multi-purpose trails, both paved and unpaved, provide numerous options to get in touch with nature.

Located off the coast and only accessible by boat, Anclote Key Preserve State Park is the ultimate place to play, relax and enjoy the perfect beach day. If you want to take a hike down the coastline, hunt for seashells on the beach and lounge under the clear Florida skies, there’s no better place.
